Equipment acquired for the science lab has been vital to the implementation of scientific approaches to learning. Students are engaging in hands-on activities to discover and investigate. Through support from LaGEAR UP and LaSip, assistance is being provided to our mathematics, science and language arts teachers.

With this support and training innovative teaching strategies are utilized in these classes to prepare students for better performance and the acquisition of necessary skills.

The majority population in our enrollment is served in self-contained settings and resource setting to address students’ special needs. However “inclusion” of special needs students is a priority and is reflected in the scheduling of self-contained classes as well as students with multi-disabilities. Accommodations to address individual differences guide our teaching methods in the regular classrooms.

At the Lake Providence Junior High School, we are continuing to engage our teachers and paraprofessionals in staff development involving new programs and the newly adopted State’s Content Standards, GLE and teaching strategies through the services of our Regional Service Center in West Monroe, La. In addition, plans are in process for extensive training to take place with professional assistance for mathematics teachers from the Title I Program, LaGEAR UP Program and the Mid South Middle School Initiative to improve teaching and learning. Our principal, faculty and staff are committed to high academic standards as we reach for results in attaining new standards in education.
